Laredo Sector Border Patrol seizes nearly $5 million in marijuana

U.S. Border Patrol agents seized 2.82 tons of marijuana early Tuesday along Mines Road, according to a criminal complaint filed Aug. 1.

A criminal complaint filed against Rodolfo Reyna-Sanchez, 45, a lawful permanent resident, charges him with possess with intent to distribute the controlled substance and conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute the marijuana.

 
 

The marijuana had an estimated street value of $4,974,640. Reyna-Sanchez has been appointed a federal public defender. He remains in federal custody under no bond, pending a hearing.

“Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents continue to remain vigilant and are committed to keeping our communities safe,” said Agent Efrain Perez, Border Patrol spokesman.
