AMARILLO — DPS conducting a motor vehicle inspection Saturday on IH-40 found over 21 pounds of cocaine valued at $249,784 and over 32 pounds of methamphetamine valued at $481,680. The DPS trooper conducted a commercial motor vehicle inspection on a 1999 Peterbilt truck towing a 2004 Great Dane trailer that were traveling eastbound on IH-40. The inspection was conducted west of Amarillo in Potter County at mile marker 61. During the inspection, the trooper discovered nine bundles of cocaine and 25 bundles of methamphetamine inside the trailer. Morris Arnold Welcome, 65, was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance, a first degree felony, and booked into the Potter County Jail. The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from Albuquerque, N.M. to Brooklyn, N.Y.
